Magazine Redesign - testing other cover designs
Once the over design layout had been realised, I began creating a number of other cover to show how the redesign would progress. This use of a square format and space for the cover allows consistency through the design but variation through different colour systems. This is informed by the Domus magazine covers where by each issue has a standard colour for the cover.
The issue above is for the 'Rethinking the Rural' design, utilising the same layout structure. I have used an olive green for the primary colour this connects to the rural theme.
This 'Modern living' issue uses a really nice image of Luis Barragan's architectural work. The same structure has again been used to show the consistency and also how yeah would change from issue to issue.
This whole redesign shows how the structures for layouts must be flexible yet consistent to make sure it is clear what it is they are reading but keep it exciting to make sure they are challenged.
