OUGD503 - Responsive - Penguin Books - In Cold Blood

Understanding the context of the book makes for a better understanding of what works for the theme, target audience and most importantly the content of the book.

Author - Truman Capote, an American novelist, most famous for In Cold Blood and Breakfast at Tiffany's. Many of his books have been made into films. 

When the book is written / When the book is set - Originally published in 1966, book based in 1959.

Read book/ look at key plot developments  - detailing the true story of the murders of four members of a family in a small farming town in Kansas.

Target audience of book - Crime Novel Readers, American Literature lovers, Anyone with interest in Literature, Cinema. 

What the author intended - To really understand what it was that made the muderers do what they did. Trying to identify the route cause of a murder. 

Tone of voice - Written as a Nonfiction but is described as New Journalism. Real events portrayed in a story. 

Themes - Murder thriller, Phycological thriller, mystery.
