Museum Branding - Guidelines / Artfund Research

Often with a redesign there is opportunity to create a brand guideline, researching into brand guidelines shows how they are used and why its important.

The initial pages outline the various areas that make up the Artfund, this would be useful for the MCB identifying the initial areas that would need separate branding.

This gives insight to the overall identify and how it has been used. In a number of places using a range of different formats. Also the different versions of the logo type.

Further more some of the basic colour combinations that often used with the branding. It is important for consistency to understand how the branding is used on white and black.

Another important part is the details on the minimum sizes, this is shows with the type size the smallest the logo is allowed to be used. Furthermore including the don'ts of the branding, this seems simple yet is vital in the overall designs use.

Colour as always is really important, a number of basic colours as well as secondary colours gives a great insight into how it can and should be used. This will be a key part of the design language.

Furthermore the uses of colour feature don'ts showing that mixing type colours is not allowed.

Details on the typeface have also been included. This is a simple slide yet is really important, the secondary typefaces are also important.

Grids and Overviews of the design are great tools for keeping consistency. A special grid allows for the design to be the same across a number of different formats.

On top of this it is great research for the ArtFund Brief, this YCN brief explores the idea of broadening art to a wider audience of students.

Overall these brand guidelines show the importance of structure and creating a detailed brand guideline booklet for the MCB redesign will be imperative to this project.
