OUGD503 - Responsive - Studio Brief 02 - Royal Opera House - Painted Frames + Initial Gifs

After planning the various scene we began painting. After picking seven main colours we colour paint each frame as a team one colour at the time. This collaborative process allowed the artwork to be create much quicker, as well as making sure the work load was more spread across every member of the group. While the painting was happening my role was not just doing the painting but making sure everything was ticking over, doing the little things like clearing brushes, changing the water and being the quality control ensuring that each colour had been done to a high standard. Making sure the colours matched sufficiently and that all that needed to be done had been done. This was really enjoyable and making sure it was all going well was the most valuable thing I could do.

As these scene are just the first frames of the first animation this process of collaboratively working will need to be implemented again very soon.

As shown the colours are cohesive and all the scene have been painted to the same style. Having Tom has been so useful for simply realising the animations, he told the group exactly what would work best and how many frames for each we would need. The first painting that Annie drew and I painted were checked by Tom and they wouldn't realy match up correctly for the animation so they needed to be redrawn. Overall Tom has really showed the skills he has that we need to be successful in this project. Once the artworks had been created we past it over to Tom to create some initial gifs.

These still need the faces', strings, and some other small details added to them but overall It seems everyone in the group really likes them and they fit the the aesthetics we have been working for. Annie said that the levels of the images will need to be changed as the colours are a little off and we all felt the animation could be slowed down but besides that they are just what we are looking for. We are going to meet again soon to discuss the next steps and talk about what else needs to be done. It has been a really great experience collaborating so far, we are all learning new things, pushing our skills and the fact you are creating work for someone else it means there is an added positive pressure to do the work quicker.
