The Chinese artist Ai Weiwei has been really active on the subject of Refugees over the last couple of years. He utilised Instagram as a way of raising awareness of the issue.
These large instillation pieces have been created in an attempt the shock the viewer into thinking more about the issue, as part of a exhibition by the artist titled 'LAW OF PASSAGE' at the Praque national gallery. Ai Weiwei shares the view that more should be done for refugees and has spend much of the last year at the camps documenting the conditions and speaking with the people effected.
Ai Weiwei is also extremely active on twitter about the issue, he is an example of how social media can be really utilised to push their views and raise awareness of an issue.
