OUGD503 - Responsive - Guess the film - Initial mock ups / Understanding the branding
Informed by the MUBI brand guidelines initial mock ups of the advertising. Gaining an understanding of the type in use, logos, colour pallets and the general aesthetics that come with MUBI.
Testing initial ideas using well know films featured on MUBI but using not so recognisable image to build up this idea of wonder and intrigue with the reader.
These images right away showed how important the copy would be, it needed to be interesting for the reader, not give too much away to remain challenging and not take anything away from the quality of the images on show.
Experimenting with landscape view as the screen grabs are taken from movies the landscape imagery is much impacting shown full size.
Also looking at really graphic imagery, bright colours, dark shadows and unusual angles. This makes the designs more eye-catching and apparent.
It became apparent that the selection of the images would be vital in this project, they will be the defining factor in how engaging and interesting the content would look.
After showing the idea to a class mate they informed me that the content was a little to action/crime film orientated, and that the best design would show the full sphere of film.
Overall the communication of these posters is not far from what I wanted, direct, posing a question and as engaging as possible. However moving forward it seems appropriate to look at the idea more closely to ensure it is best communicated.
