OUGD503 - Responsive - Poster mock ups

After picking appropriate films and stills from these films I began mocking up the images into posters, With an emphasis on direct communication and not giving too much away these posters began to come together. 































Amelie — overall the communication of the posters were spot on, they didn't give too much away, if you know the film it is still a bit of a tricky one and it is intriguing for anyone completely new to the films. 




Fight Club — being a more recognisable film it seemed appropriate to make the images slightly more allusive, the shots show more about the overall feel for the film, ensuring that the main characters are not clearly shown is key. The soap in the film is a famous part of the characters persona and is a dead give away if they know the film.





In the mood for love — due to the really beautiful imagery in this film picking images was not at all a difficult task, there featured many shots of the two characters no facing the camera creating a sense of mystery, these shots were clear choices for the guess the film idea. 





 Goodfellas — again being such an iconic film picking shots needed to be more considered to not give it away. These five seemed appropriate relating to the crime/thriller genre showing the quality of the cinematography.





Citizen Kane — The imagery of this iconic film formed the perfect backdrop to the posters, the images are obscure yet all signify the film in the best way possible, using a black and white film will hopefully expand the audience engaging with the content. 






2001 a space odyssey — possibly the most recognisable of the films the images needed to be pretty obscure avoiding any of the classic imagery. This film could however still be too clear and may not be appropriate for the project, test out the posters is the next step.

Speaking to John about the idea and showing the posters I asked if they needed to be more personal to each film, he agreed and said that each poster's copy needs to link in some way to the films. Pushing the idea as far as possible is key he explained.
