Orkneyinga Saga
This book is a collection of Norse myths and legends taken from traditional Viking Stories. This book is helpful for my project in two ways, firstly the text used could help formulate come of my descriptions, as this will relate to my target audience that is interested in mythology and anything to do with Vikings. There is also many examples of poetry that could be very useful in setting the scene for my type. The language used will also be beneficial how the book is worded to be engaging to the target audience. I haven't yet found any that I know I want to include but this book will be helpful when writing my descriptions. The second way this book is helpful for me is the way it has been made and designed. The book is pocket sized for starters this means the book could be in theory taken to the Orkney's and read while there. This could be something to highlight for my publication. The paper choice is very thin and is off white which is important this make the book seem in a way older and more ornate. The cover shows an old Viking crest this image relates to the content and it is clear what the book will contain. The typography is not very decorative and allows the focus to be on the image. The book contains a map with information on the locations. The hand draw map is a nice touch and adds to the experience of the book. This is another design decision to consider and how it would work for my publication is something to think about. Will it take away from my images or add to the context?
