OUGD504- Type In Context - Typefaces and Alphabets by Clotilde Olyff

Typefaces and Alphabets by Clotilde Olyff.

From reading 'The 3D Type Book' I found the work of Clotilde Olyff and this book called Lettered: Clotilde Olyff by Jan Middendorp – published by Druk Editions 2000. The book compiles some of Clotilde Olyff's typographic projects. The book is designed to suite the content this being interesting and strange type forms.

The book has been ring bound so each page can be laid flat to better show the type

specimens. The stock choice being black and this beige colour relates to the images. The use of type in the book is pretty experimental and often uses these half cut letters this relates to the target audience of the book mainly being people interested in typography and letterforms. As the target audience of this book in a way is similar to my own publication though mine is more Orkney orientated the design elements are useful to consider compared to my own publication. The cover of the book seems to have a kind of engraving it is difficult to see clearly here but this design feature adds to the tactility of the book.
