Once a large body of research has been realised it was time to begin some idea, looking back through the research I have created four initial ideas that would formulate further more refined designs.
All the ideas have a basis in the themes I have been looking at, of Refugees, Boarders, Immigration and the political, social and ethical problems associated with this.
Idea 1. Looking at mapping the journey of a Refugee from Syria to the UK. Displayed as either a poster, publication or a digitally explorable user experience. Looking at the struggles, problems and obstacles a Refugee may face in their journey to safety.
Peer Comment: Interesting but difficult to achieve, will need to find a detailed story of a refugee. A very sensitive issue.
Idea 2. Moving on from Refugees as the content is a bit sensitive and looking at boarders, the most dangerous boarders and most iconic boarders of the world. A really interesting issue that can be explored in many formats and ways.
Peer Comment: A more appropriate issue, many possibilities for exploration less sensitive. Has not really been explored fully.
Idea 3. Again looking at refugees and creating a half and half publication of the positive and negative connotations of refugees. As it is often used as political points this would try and create and even picture of the issue with showing both sides of the argument.
Peer Comment: Again very heavy issue, difficult to create a response that is not too serious, consider the message that is being displayed.
Idea 4. Infographic of the statistics of refugees, looking at the statistics displayed as infographics to raise awareness of the issue and inform the reader of the facts.
Peer comment: Again think about the message that will be given out, a very serious issue that might be difficult to show in a sensitive way.
After much consideration it seems appropriate to move away from the refugee issue as it is very serious and could be interpreted as offensive, moving forward I would like to look at boarders, and the blurred or not so blurred lines between countries. This can be explored in a number of ways and hopefully can be an interesting topic for this project.
