OUGD505 - Design Practice 2 - Product Range Distribution - Mishka Henner
The Manchester based photographer Mishka Henner work uses found satellite imagery, this BBC 4 documentary looks at his work in focus and about the process he goes through. My elder brother worked with Mishka on this piece of work for a period of six months so his insight into the way they record their images could be invaluable.
This piece of work is about restricted areas in the UK he explains that the final outcome is comprised of a few different samples, the image of the site, the information on the sight- the coordinates the space the area takes up. This all comes together in the final image. The infographic work is unclear but shows an abstract geometric graphic of the information.
This process of taking images of the effects human impact can have on the land is a different and interesting approach to the designs. The work looks at taking found images that can be accessed by anyone, including me! This content is interesting and something unique and could form an amazing focus in this project.
Shown on Mishka's website these images of oil fields show amazing beauty in something that is really a serious environmental issue, this recontextulisation of images is amazing to see and very inspirational. The work of Mishka Henner has been really inspirational to this project. Hopefully I can further my knowledge talking to my brother on how they collect these images.
