The architectural review is a classic of architectural magazines, the images here range from new to old, the old issues in the library. Overall the architectural review is gives an excellent comment on architecture today. The current women issue is an example of this progressive journalism. The old logotype features a fairly different lowercase ar with an outline effect. This possibly connects to the idea of 3D architecture.
The Architectural Review is an example of great journalism and the content is real put in focus throughout the designs.
The magazine has a large consistency now with these older issues. Photography still dominates the cover page and the logotype is fairly subtle.
The large Sans Serif type is another constant throughout the publication. The immediacy of the communication is really well done. I personally much prefer the older covers as their is a clarity in what it is the magazine is and what its about.
Many of the magazines explores features this kind of spread. Lots of white space and large body copy. This could be something to thing about how to break away from this slightly boring design and allowing the content to remain the focus.
The architectural review would be an interesting mag to redesign. Its content is always intriguing and they are one of the most successful magazines for architecture in the UK.
