The idea of using social media as a tool for change is very interesting and realtes to not only society but also technology.
The ideas of Grupa are for many kinds of protest but political protest at the forefront. The imagery is very typical of this kind of work, use of black, red and white, strong graphic and often hand drawn type make the work seem immediate and really graphic. Highlighted in this 'manifesto' from their facebook page they explain they are 'designers who joined forces to use design as a weapon for protest and activism'.
The main issue highlighted is the reform of the Malaysian government, the designs could be seen as not traditionally 'Malaysian' but are really impactful.
This graphic style is really strong and could be something to look into for my project.
