This idea looks at the creation of Leeds Town Hall in 1853- 58, the building is one of the most iconic of Leeds and was built to serve the people of the city, there has been many events and happenings within the town hall since it has been built.
Connected imagery.
The old images of the town hall would lend themselves to be etched or lino-cut, the graphic nature of the building would lend itself to a traditional print, this would connect to the history of the building. Using letterpress would also be a appropriate technique to explore.
Top left, - based on the document inviting people of Leeds to help with the laying down of the foundation stone. The range of typographic styles into one really of a time document that would translate interestingly into a A3 poster. Overlaid with an image of Leeds town hall in the background.
Top Right -using a drawn image of the Town Hall building, drawing architectural structures is something I have always enjoyed and the Town halls, large graphic shapes would lend themselves to bold, black and white hand draw imagery. Alongside some more impacting typography.
Bottom left -Looking at infographics and the the various events that have taken place in the town hall over its 150 year history. Infographic posters is something not previously considered and could be an interesting way to make the designs more engaging and showing more information.
Bottom Right - A more simplistic look at the structure of Leeds Town Hall, using large wood block type displaying the words ' Leeds Town Hall' relating to the processes and techniques available at the time the building was created.
