Experiments

These design show my further developments of my ideas, using various symbols in different typefaces to show the changing kind of designs seen in the history of currency from around the world. Implementing the colours and layout used in the Andy Warhol dollars painting, I have experimented as much as possible with use of colour, size and positioning. creating designs that I feel would be able to be transferred into way finding, online images, leaflets and any other things that would be needed for this exhibition. The square format I feel lends itself in use on instagram, this is something our group highlighted as important within one designs so I tired to make sure the designs would translate to this online format.

Discussing these images with my group they felt the designs were interesting but didn't reflect the more sixties theme we were going for, it is a shame as I felt these designs were appropriate but as this project relies on group work if they didn't see it fitting directly into the logo and identity designs then I would have to change this.

We in our group felt if we selected a type face and colour scheme in our design then all our work would feel connected and we could each work on the different things we need in this project. These colours taken from the Andy Warhol painting, we each saved this onto our computers and used them in our designs, this would add consistency to the overall designs.

Using the colour scheme I used this London Centrio typeface and tried to create a logo that reflected the sixties theme my group had chosen and was bright bold and graphic. The typeface's large amount of styles meant I could experiment with a lot of different weights sizes and styles for each design. Over laying the type meant the designs had an extra dimension. I really pushed the amount of designs I created and tried to explore as may colour combinations as possible. In our group we discussed the choice of typeface, and decided to vote, the choice between the London Centrio type above and this Mexellent type bellow. I expressed that the Mexellent type was interesting and very different but seemed as if it was not as refined and only had two styles to it. We as a group voted and Mexellent was the winner, this is something that will happen from time to time in group projects.
