Initial ideas and sketches

Considering the exhibition theme is currency I began by using the various symbols associated with different currencies around the world the dollar $ yen ¥ pound £ and euro €. These symbols I felt really represented the theme of money. The interesting and familiar shapes are graphic and distinctive and would lend themselves to posters and logos for the exhibition.

The sketches show how the various symbols could be used large as the background, as a repeated pattern, large on the walls of the exhibition and on printed leaflets. At the bottom right I have looked to possibly use the symbols large on the floor of the exhibition, as the space is so large this would add something extra as well as relating to the exhibition theme. I felt this idea had a lot of potential as it can lend itself to a lot of different outcomes under the same theme.

This sketch shows another way of breaking up the large space, the angled boards would all feature some of the printed pieces of work. This would allow the limited wall space due to the large number of windows to be left as it is and these angles boards dominate the space.

This final idea looks at using Bank House's brutalist architecture as the themes for the identity, this sixties building is an iconic example of the brutalist architecture of leeds and is and would make an interesting exhibition identity if done right.

These three ideas I feel are all very different and would all create some engaging and interesting outcomes. I am confident to present these ideas to the group as possible theme to look into.
