License to Print Money Exhibition

This project is to work in a group collaboratively to create a exciting and appropriate exhibition concept, identity, branding and promotional designs for our printed currency designs. In groups of seven we have been given the task to design a consistent identity that successfully promotes the exhibition.

In our groups we initially discussed our ideas on the of the exhibition and how the theme of money of the future can be presented in our designs, this along with the use of space. We spoke in a group of how the bank house building was large and due to the actual notes being relatively small how we use the space will be key. Our first design ideas we highlighted, how the building is set up as a normal office space with budget limitations it may be difficult to completely transform the space our designs should work with this.

We discussed an idea on creating a bank vault theme and the prints in the exhibition being in this vault, we felt this design would represent the theme in an more interesting way, We new right away our designs should really stand out and be eye catching.

This mind map above shows each of our initial thoughts on the project and how we could transform the space using projectors, the use of desks and computers. Thinking about iconic things associated with money and currency as a group highlighted the currencies different symbols as well as security features seen in the notes. An idea was put forward to use the UV features seen in currency, using UV lighting, and the possible use of UV pens for a feedback wall in the exhibition.

We discussed how any identity we created needed to be consistent throughout to build the brand and remain memorable. How we communicate the exhibition was another thing we highlighted in our initial discussion using printed invitations, social media platforms like twitter instagram and Facebook and printed posters. These varying platforms would reach as many people as possible and could help promote the exhibition to a wide audience.

Setting up a Facebook group for all of the six members of our group would allow constant discussion on our ideas and feedback on our thoughts and ideas for this group project.
As this is a group project how we work together will be the most important factor in how successful our designs come out. The first thing we did in the group chat was rounded up our initial discussion and decided everyone should think of one or two designs to discuss when we meet next.
